Mizrach papercut
Mizrach means East, and for Eastern European Jews it meant the direction of beloved Jerusalem. When praying, they would face east and mark the direction with a decorated plaque or papercut of Mizrach. The Hebrew word Mizrach, at the center of this papercut, is highlighted by a gold background. On the right, a Chamsa, one of the most popular Judaica symbols of good luck. The Chamsa on the left contains the Hebrew word Chai - Life, and is held by a decorated Star of David. Both Chamsas are highlighted. The bottom panel is connected to the centerpiece by four pomegranates, symbolizing fertility and plenty.
