LOVE OF JERUSALEM Na'ale papercut English and Hebrew
Through a window, a scene of the Old City of Jerusalem is revealed. The English words at the bottom read "If I forget thee, O Jerusalem" (Psalms 137,5).The Hebrew words read: Let us elevate Jerusalem above our foremost joy. This saying is a paraphrase of the verse from the same chapter in Psalms: "Let my tongue adhere to my palate if I fail to recall you, if I fail to elevate Jerusalem above my foremost joy". (Ibid. 6) It often appears on invitations for traditional Jewish weddings. This is an age-old promise to never forget the ancient, beautiful Jerusalem that was destroyed - even at times of joy. Both verses are highlighted by a gold background.
