BELOVED LAND

English and Hebrew papercut

This papercut puts together harmoniously elements of architecture, history, flora and fauna and symbols of Israel.

At top right, a mountain-goat stands on an ancient wall. A palm tree grows to its left and just below it, a branch from a pomegranate tree, as it appears on a Shekel coin circa 66-70 CE. Palm and pomegranate are among the Seven Species that characterize the local landscape. A golden painted harp, an instruments played by King David and the Levites at the Temple, plays gently in the breeze and to its right, stands the well known Menorah.

At the right and left of the frame, highlighted by a gold background, is the following verse: "A land which God cares for, the eyes of God are always upon it". (Deuteronomy 11,12).
